Wulong Tai Chi Kung Fu Code of Ethics
All Wulong Tai Chi Kung Fu instructors are expected to abide by the following Code of Ethics:
Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every human being
Within the context of the activity, treat everyone equally regardless of sex, ethnic origin or religion.
Ensure the athlete's time spent in class is a positive experience
All athletes are deserving of equal attention and opportunities.
Treat each athlete as an individual.
Respect the talent, developmental stage and goals of each individual student.
Help each student reach their full potential.
Be fair, considerate and honest with students.
Be professional in and accept responsibility for their actions.
Language, manner, punctuality, preparation and presentation should display high standards.
Display control, respect, dignity and professionalism to all involved with wushu/tai chi including coaches, officials, administrators, the media, parents and spectators.
Encourage athletes to demonstrate the same qualities.
Make a commitment to providing a quality service to students.
Maintain or improve current qualifications and accreditation.
Seek continual improvement through performance appraisal and ongoing coach education.
Provide a training program that is planned and sequential.
Maintain appropriate records.
Operate within the rules and spirit of wushu and tai chi.
The guidelines governing the sport of wushu and tai chi should be followed at all times.
Any physical contact with athletes should be:
appropriate to the situation
necessary for the students skill development
Refrain from any form of personal abuse towards students.
This includes verbal, physical and emotional abuse.
Be alert to any forms of abuse directed towards students from other sources whilst under the care of Wulong Tai Chi Kung Fu.
Refrain from any form of harassment towards students.
Provide a safe environment for training and competition.
Ensure equipment and facilities meet safety standards.
Equipment, rules and the environment need to be appropriate for the age and ability of the students.
Show concern and caution towards sick and injured athletes.
Provide a modified training program where appropriate.
Allow further participation in training and competition only when appropriate.
Seek medical advice when required.
Maintain the same interest and support towards sick and injured students.
Be a positive role model for wushu, tai chi and the students.
Respect each student’s right to privacy and confidentiality.
In return, all Wulong Tai Chi Kung Fu students are expected to abide by the following:
Comply with the policies of the School and the requests of your instructor, which are all designed to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone.
All materials you purchase or are supplied with by the school are subject to copyright. Please respect the originators of these items and do not copy them or give them to other people.
All fees are payable no later than the second week of any given term. Don’t force our instructors to become debt collectors. We provide you with the tuition in a timely fashion so we expect the same courtesy from you regarding payment. If you don’t pay, you don’t play.
Ensure you treat your instructor and other students with courtesy and respect at all times. Do not engage in abusive, harassing or rude behaviour, and if someone treats you in that manner be sure to advise your instructor immediately.
Wulong Tai Chi Kung Fu aims to provide a happy, secure and positive learning environment for all its students. Any student who does not show respect for his/her fellow students, instructor, the school, or the arts of Wushu and Tai Chi, may be quietly asked to leave the school in an endeavour to maintain this philosophy.
